Creating one
More → Goals. Give it a name, an amount, a date and a currency. The app works out how much to put aside each month.
Topping it up
The top-up button moves money from an ordinary account to the goal's account. That is a transfer, not an expense — your total does not change, only how available it is.
Why it works
Money in goal accounts is excluded from the "how long it lasts" forecast. The app treats it as already spent on the goal, so you never see it as free money and never spend it on something else.
A photo
A goal can carry a photograph — of that trip, or that car. Not decoration: a goal with a picture is noticeably more likely to be reached.
If the goal is off
Archive it. The money stays on the account and becomes available again — move it wherever you need with an ordinary transfer.
The app works out how much to set aside
A goal has an amount and a date. From those the app derives the line "put aside X a month" and shows how many months or days are left. It recalculates after every contribution: fall behind and the figure grows, put in more and it shrinks.
That is the answer to the question a goal is created for. "I need two hundred thousand" says nothing about what to do this month; "set aside twelve thousand" does.
Why a goal's money is missing from the forecast
Every goal has an account of its own. That money counts towards net worth — it is yours — but it is subtracted from the "how long it lasts" forecast, and the app says so in a line.
Otherwise it would lie in exactly the wrong direction: money set aside for a holiday would look like money to spend today, and the forecast would promise more than exists, every month.
A contribution is a transfer
The "Contribute" button, the source account, the date. Money moves from an ordinary account to the goal's account; it does not count as spending, because nothing was spent — it simply stopped being available.
The photo
A goal can carry a photo: the sea, the car, the door of the flat. It is the only ornament in the whole app, and it is not there by accident: a goal you can see gets abandoned less often than a line with a number on it.
