Accounts and currencies
Types
Cash, card, crypto, or your own type with any name you like. The type only affects grouping in the list — money counts the same everywhere.
The opening balance
When creating an account, say how much is on it now. That is the starting point; from then on only transactions move it.
Several currencies
Create one account per currency. Every transaction is stored in its account's currency and also converted into the budget's main currency at the rate on the day. So:
- reports add up correctly across currencies;
- past months do not change retroactively when a rate jumps.
The main currency is set in settings.
Credit cards
A credit card belongs in the Cards section, which carries the limit, the payment date and a reminder for it.
Pots and goals
Each goal has its own account. That money counts towards your net worth but is excluded from the "how long it lasts" forecast — money set aside should not look available.
Deleting
Accounts are archived rather than deleted, because a history of transactions sits behind them. An archived account leaves the lists while past reports stay correct.
